“Southern pine” refers to a mix of yellow pine species grown throughout the southeastern United States. Southern pine is popular as framing lumber in several regional markets throughout the U.S. It porous grain makes it ideal for pressure treating, permitting deep, uniform penetration of preservatives without incising. It’s also used in a wide range of interior applications including flooring and paneling.
